Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Eureka Springs Artist Studio Tour?
The Eureka Springs Artist Studio Tour began in 2006 as part of the Arts Eye View events which included the dedication of the restoration of the Centennial Mural and the unveiling of the latest artist murals for the downtown public art exhibit, The Artery.
By the fall of 2007, visitors toured 18 open studios over the 3 day event and the Studio Tour officially became an annual event. Now in its sixth year, the studio tour in Eureka Springs continues to bring you the rare opportunity to visit as many as 20 artists in their working studios during the 3 days.
How does the tour work?
This is a self directed artists studio tour. Maps and a brief description of each artist studio are available online and also distributed in a printed publication which can be picked up in town before and during the 3 day tour. Signs along the route direct you to the actual studios. Each studio has one or more participating artists.
The public is invited to step into the adventure of art – right into the artist workplaces to see the tools and techniques of creating art. You will be able to get to know the individual artists and catch a glimpse into the creative process. Artists will be offering demonstrations, answer questions, have works in progress” on display and works for sale.
When is the tour?
The tour is held on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the end of September each year (Sept 23-25 in 2011). You are welcome to visit from from 10 am - 6 pm on Friday and Saturday and 10-4 on Sunday.
Who is invited?
Studios are open to the general public, young and old - Art lovers, art collectors, students of art, adventurers of all sorts. We do ask that you please leave your pets at home.
